The Assumption of Mary Into Heaven

6 Comments on The Assumption of Mary Into Heaven

Although the Assumption of the Virgin Mary has been part of Catholic history, it was not considered a dogma of the Catholic Church until the 20th Century. On May 1, 1946 Pope Pius XII wrote a letter to bishops worldwide asking their opinions in regards to the possibility of the assumption of the Virgin Mary …

28 Now after the sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Mag′dalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Lo, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Hail!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

  • Ephesians 6:10-20 Calls Christians to put on the Armor of God because we're called to be Soldiers for Christ. There will be pain and suffering. There will be struggling. There will be attacks from the evil one and his minions the closer you get to God. The evil one will use friends, family, and strangers to do his work. Here's the awesome thing - so does God. My brothers and sisters, GET RIGHT WITH GOD. Do not wait one more second. You say you don't know what your calling is. Yes, you do. You're a son or daughter of God called to be a warrior in the battle of good versus evil. The victory has been won by Jesus Christ, but we still have work to do. So get our your bible and rosary every day, praying for your salvation and the salvation of others. It's not easy, but it's worth it.

  • Today we celebrate and honor The Holy Family - Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. This devotion began in the late 1400s, but did not gain popularity until the 1600s. Pope Benedict XV inserted it into the General Roman Calendar in 1921, placing it within the octave of the Epiphany. The General Roman Calendar placed it on December 29, 30, or 31. The revision of the General Roman Calendar in 1969 placed it within Christmastide. When not celebrated on a Sunday, it is not a holy day of obligation. In the General Roman Calendar of 1969 the Feast of the Holy Family outranks the various saints whose feast days fall during the octave of Christmas, namely Saint Stephen, Saint John the Apostle and the Holy Innocents. Many Catholics will write "+ J.M.J. +" at the top of letters, cards, documents and personal notes as a reference to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as the Holy Family in an appeal for the blessing of the Holy Family.

  • Blessed Feast of the Exultation of the Most Holy Cross! Oh, the anguish Our Blessed Mother must've felt as she gazes at Jesus crucified! The Cross is an incredible gift to us, just as the smaller crosses we receive throughout each day are a gift. While it's humanly impossible to endure all that Jesus did, we can still imitate Our Lord and Savior by accepting our crosses and carrying them with love and mercy. Christ transformed an instrument of torture, ridicule, and death into an instrument of infinite love, mercy, and salvation for all of humanity. Today let reflect not only on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, who gifted us with The Cross, but also the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who can help us carry them with the strength and tenderness of a mother's love. #Christian #Catholic #Faith #Pray #Prayer #Jesus #Inspiration #PrayTheRosary #PrayTheRosaryDaily #God
